Jamel Armand curated by DuNord L.E. Jacket

Dutch artist Jamel Armand has teamed up with Store Du Nord and Spanish artisan Fernando Garcia de la Calera of TheConcrete Madrid to create a limited edition jacket, hand-painted by Jamel. The design of the jacket was inspired by the painter jackets worn by Pablo Picasso. Key features are the bright indigo blue heavy twill fabric by Berto Industria Tessile, a small mill in Italy, the typical ‘monkey fist’ closing on the front panel and, of course, the artwork by Jamel Armand on the back.
Jamel Armand is considered as one of the most exciting and energising artists and painters in The Netherlands, with his colourful and intriguing artwork being applauded by galleries, interior designers, art lovers and creative spirits.
I myself am no exception, having admired Jamel’s work at local galleries frequently. You can imagine how excited I got when Jamel suggested we do a special artist collaboration and make a limited edition jacket, which we can now present as a pre-order for you.

The maker of the jacket is Fernando Garcia de la Calera, the founder of TheConcrete Madrid, who I’ve met years ago and keep an intense working relationship with to develop special collections for Store Du Nord. Fernando is highly regarded for his artisanal craftsmanship and his views on contemporary workwear for men and women. Crafting the garments himself in his atelier in Madrid, by hand and antique machinery, you not only get a very well-made piece of clothing but also a garment that is made to be long-lasting.
For this project we have used a deadstock fabric from Berto Industria Tessile in Italy, meaning the meters are very limited and we can only make 12 jackets in this specific fabric. The pre-order window is open from Saturday September 18th up to Friday September 24th and will require a pre-payment to ensure we can run the production. Below you will find the size guide and how to measure your own size, which works best if you measure up one of your own well-fitting jackets. If you are unsure how to measure, get in touch or visit Store Du Nord (closed on Tuesdays). Once you’ve determined your size, select it from the drop-down at the Invoice Request and all will be arranged quickly by Store Du Nord.
